Examining The Future Of Coins

The July 26 issue of the United Arab Emirates newspaper Gulf News carries an article on a display of coins that is titled “A dying hobby gains currency.”

An article appearing in the July 25 online issue ofThisIsMoney.co.uk starts: “Why do we still use cash, when card is clearly more practical?”

On July 25, the prestigious newspaper Financial Times (London) asked the question: “Could cash end up inside a museum?”

On May 4 another prestigious London newspaper, the Times seized the other end of the debate when it announced: “Sweden, the nation that pioneered living without cash, warns: Hoard your bank notes.” (It was the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency that made this announcement.)
