This place was originally named Dongmangbong because it is known to be the place where the queen and wife of King Danjong (Queen Jeongsun) faced east in longing for her husband who was forcibly sent away, eastward to Yeongwol. Soongin-jae is therefore a combination of a memorial for Queen Jeongsun and a space for local facilities. The original park maintenance office and public toilet have also been redesigned.
