Chanel is known for its ability to turn what are perceived as gender-specific products into objects that the other gender covets. It really started with the late Mr. Lagerfeld and his penchant for putting male models in Chanel tweed suits, but with androgyny becoming an increasingly popular style of dressing in high fashion, it’s not uncommon to see both men and women bearing a Chanel bag (okay, maybe not a 2.55, but any man or woman could easily pull off a tote bag) today.
