After developing a taste for racing Historic Touring Cars in the former Ed Lamont NZTC-spec Toyota Corona during the 2017–18 Archibalds Series, Christchurch man Austin McKinley was keen for more. In the space of three days, he bought two cars to replace the Corona: a genuine, former James Kaye works BTCC Honda Accord and a barn — or rather container — find former New Zealand Production Car Championship Benson & Hedges Saloon Car Series VH Holden Commodore V8.
