In an acknowledgement of the benefits of cool roofs, there will be a limit on the solar absorptance allowed for commercial roofs, required under the ‘deemed to satisfy’ provisions. Low solar absorptance, or high solar reflectance helps roofs stay cooler as they absorb less sunlight.

The good news for architects working in the commercial space is that percent (solar absorptance of 23 percent). This translates to an impressive SRI (Solar Reflectance Index) rating of 95 , which is the highest in the entire COLORBOND® steel range.
