It’s long been the dream for headphone users to ‘cut the cable’ and make the connection to their music source wirelessly. This began with headphones in the home that connected via analogue radio frequencies — swishy fading noises they made, until digital versions appeared with a whole new set of problems. Today the panacea is, of course, Bluetooth — though Bluetooth is not yet CD-quality, and it often takes a good audio company to make the best of it.
