British tradition meets British innovation in this quirky but quality box which proved to be very smart in more ways than one. The Lyric aims to deliver pretty much all you need for a system except speakers, and to bring the traditional amplifier up to date with wireless streaming, app control, a CD player for those still playing those digital discs, and radio too, with FM, DAB+, digital and internet radio built in. Yet all still supported by those fundamentals of solidly engineered amplification on which Cyrus built its reputation.

EQUIPMENT

While a great many classic ‘British’ brands have been sold into foreign ownership and/ or production over the years, Cyrus remains in private British hands, its HQ still in the UK’s Cambridgeshire, and it not only designs and prototypes there but also still manufactures its distinctive hi-fi in the UK. The iconic Cyrus designs are half-width, with the fascia on the short end of the chassis, but the Lyric is not of this ilk, facing the usual wide way to the world,
