To June 30 – reflects the richness and diversity of unique Indigenous cultures highlighting selected acquisitions that have been added to MAGNT’s Aboriginal Art and Material Culture Collection over the past three years. To July 7 – this immersive exhibition tells the story of the origins of yi ḏ aki and illustrates the importance of the instrument in Aboriginal life and culture. Yol ŋ u Elder invites visitors on an experiential journey that includes exploring a stringybark forest, voyaging with the West Wind and becoming lost in the mesmerising power of yi ḏ aki. Admission fees apply. Book at (see ad page 7). To Oct 13 – takes you on a journey from the highlands of Papua New Guinea to early missionary days on Groote Eylandt. It shares centuries of history including Indigenous trade with Macassan fishermen and the arrival of the British, to refugees seeking asylum in the 1990s. Each unique pipe, carved and decorated to reflect its owner’s circumstance and style, tells a story that is just as fascinating as the pipe itself. To March 29, 2020 – reveals the influence of the stars, the moon, and its phases, on human cultures and animal life. Get up close to a lunar meteorite and discover the connection between sea-worms and lunar phases when you embark on this stellar journey with .
