“24 Hours of Lemons is a duration and attrition event for low-budget cars and teams. The teams consist of a minimum of four drivers – up to as many as the team wants. They share the driving and the costs of having a $1,000 car that’s been set up with the safety gear required to go racing on the major race tracks around Australia – and cheaply.
“It’s a grassroots sports event; in fact, 24 Hours Of Lemons is the biggest event for cars and drivers in the world … and that’s just in America. And it’s the biggest event competitor numbers-wise in Australia as well. We have four to say, nine or ten drivers per car, and we have anywhere between 50-70 cars per event. So the amount of drivers we attract is astronomical.
