Meet the people

Thomas de Wet

Farmer

A family business is not always an easy business, but it seems the De Wets have managed to get it right with Biggi Brands and their farm, where Thomas and his older brother, Ru-El, work alongside their parents, Koos and Daleen.

“Sure, we do fight. There are plenty of different opinions here. But we pray together more than we fight. And we make sure no one goes to bed angry.”

Hopetown may be small, but lots of young people live here, says Thomas. “We don’t need entertainment because we like to go cycling, or meet at the river and have fun with the jet-skis.”
