Balistix Bullets

BALISTIX BULLETS, THE Meyerton manufacturer of monolithic red copper bullets for hunting and target shooting, recently supplied me with their first dual ogive (hybrid) target bullet, a 125 grainer in 6.5mm. Producing a secant ogive in a monolithic bullet is rather difficult as the lighter weight necessitates a longer bullet, mostly overly long, and the bullet normally has a very sharp, delicate tip, thus a dual ogive is a practical compromise.

But first, let us look at their bullets in general. The bullets are CNC manufactured, resulting in consistent geometry, and they use mid SAAMI tolerance on diameter (± 3.5 Micron maximum). The bullets are machined from pure copper (minimum 99.5%) and contain no lead. Copper being less dense than lead, all-copper bullets are generally lighter than lead-core bullets, all other factors being equal.
