ON MIGHT ASK, Why would anyone leave Canada and embark safari just to hunt an impala?” I’d answer that, in my opinion, if impala were rare, this pecies would rank among the most sought after trophies in the hunting world. To mind, a fine impala ram is the closest thing to perfection on that Mother Nature has created in the animal kingdom. Over the years, I have watched and admired these elegant, athletic animals, and hunted many of them – always for their delicious meat, with the occasional bonus of a “good head”. Some 20 years ago I decided I wanted to embark on a hunt exclusively for an exceptional example of a southern impala, my favourite animal.
