ANCIENT FISH TRAPS
You can also see some ancient history here during your visit. In the Skulpiesbaai Nature Reserve you’ll find the remains of the fish traps built by early Khoi residents – some of them are even used to this very day.
The fish traps are basically low stone walls built between the low and high tide marks – similar to a tidal pool. The fish are washed in by the high tide and trapped in these artificial ponds when the tide recedes.
