Gin production blossoms
Gin production is emerging as a promising local industry. Having discovered that the country’s geography and local ingredients are ideal for production of the liquor, several entrepreneurs introduced their interpretations of the centuriesold drink. Growing worldwide demand for gin bodes well for Lebanon’s gin producers.
here wasn’t a single local gin producer less than 12 months ago. and his wife opened their craft gin distillery Jun last June in their hometown of Rechmaya, Mount Lebanon. The distillery has a tasting room that is open on weekends. While hiking, noticed that gin’s main ingredient, juniper berries, were seemingly everywhere on the trail. Haddad, the founder of Colonel Brewery, spent two years studying gin production and perfecting his recipe. The fruit of his labor, Gata Gin, is now available, and was hailed ‘Best New Product 2018’ by Lebanon Opportunities. The brothers Andre, Alain, and named their spirit The Three Brothers Bathtub Gin, and brought it to market in May. Riachi Winery and Distillery began producing Junipium, a dry gin, in Khenchara in September.
