2019: The Year That Was

WHAT a year 2019 has been! Hook-ups, beak-ups and scandals galore – and how we love the constant entertainment. Let’s take a look back at the glad, the sad, the bad – and the totally outrageous!

THE BACHELOR star Arie Luyendyk Jr and Lauren Burnham got married in Hawaii on January 12 after their controversial Bachelor season, which saw Luyendyk first proposing to Becca Kufrin before changing his mind. Bachelor host Chris Harrison officiated the ceremony.

LOCAL is lekker – and it’s clear with our new international roles. Pearl Thusi stars in Queen Sono, an upcoming SA crime drama web TV series created by Kagiso Lediga, which is set to premiere on Netflix in January 2020.

SINGER Carrie Underwood and husband Mike Fisher welcomed son Jacob on January 21 – their second child. Jacob joins the family alongside big brother Isaiah, four.

JESSICA ROSE LEE and Tom Welling welcomed their first baby, a boy named Thomson Wylde Welling, on January 5.

NIKKI BELLA is long over John Cena ‒ the WWE wrestler moved on with her Dancing With The Stars partner, Artem Chigvintsev.

SIENNA MILLER and editorial director of David Zwirner Books, Lucas Zwirner, confirmed their romance as the year kicked off and have been happy ever since.

BRIE LARSON and fiance Alex Greenwald announced their split. “They have taken a step back from their engagement for the time being but they remain close,” revealed a source at the time.

VICTORIA’S SECRET model Adriana Lima and self-help guru Metin Hara ended their relationship after a year and a half of dating.

MORE VS heartbreak: model Gigi Hadid and One Direction star Zayn Malik split in early January – they were reportedly in ‘different points in their lives’, and ‘needed time to breathe’.

kicked off the year with drama – the star has been making headlines since Jan, and it wasn’t for her music. revealed that she was told a judge she wanted to break free of or at least gain some new freedoms from the conservatorship that’s controlled and guided her life for the last 11 years. Since then ex-husband has also accused dad, Jamie Spears, of having an altercation with 13-year-old son, Sean.
