Surf’s up!

Most people buy a new boat while imagining all the fun things they can do in it. But for others, it’s all about what they can do behind the boat that matters most. Watersports have long been a big part of the boatie culture, and that’s never been truer than it is today.

But watersports boats have changed over the years, and in a very big way. Decades ago, serious water skiers wanted tow boats that passed through the water making the least amount of disturbance possible, leaving flat water behind for them to carve up with their skis. With the growing interest in wakeboarding in the 1990s everything changed, and buyers suddenly wanted boats that could make the biggest wakes possible – along with a high attachment point for the tow rope so they could enjoy extra lift during jumps.

Today, it’s still all about the wake, but rather than sheer height, the focus now is on wave shaping and controllability, and it’s all driven by the explosive
