She’s been a staple of the New Zealand fashion industry for 25 years, but you’d be forgiven for not knowing Penny Styles’ name. The driven creative worked behind the scenes for some of our country’s most well-known brands before starting fashion production company Mr & Mrs Styles and her own clothing label, Remain.

She tries to keep a low profile, but Penny (37) has a story that’s too good not to share. It all started in our stylish protagonist’s hometown of Mount Maunganui, where she learnt about fabrics from her sewing-obsessed nana and landed her first after-school jobs at cult skate shops Island Style and The Garden.
