south of Gisborne on the coast. Our village consists of only 50 houses with our tribal (the sacred meeting house and grounds). The beach is a 10-minute walk from home and is sheltered from onshore winds by a headland with 500-foot-high cliff faces. There are good banks along the five-kilometre beach. The gem is a super long and fast left barrel that only shows itself in the right conditions. To the south of my home, our tribal land extends along the coastline for about 25km.
