WEEPING KATSURA

CERCIDIPHYLLUM JAPONICUM F. PENDULUM

Weeping katsura has a relatively small size that makes it an option for many gardens. It does not produce showy flowers, but its form is beautiful and its foliage catches the eye. The rounded leaves emerge with a reddish cast in spring, turn bluish green in summer and then turn gold or apricot for the fall.

HABIT: This deciduous tree slowly grows from 15 to 25 feet tall and 10 to 15 feet wide, with a weeping branch habit.

The species is native to Japan and China. It’s said that the weeping forms of this tree trace their heritage to a f. may be listed as ‘Pendula’ in the trade.
