SYNTHS BACK TO THE FUTURE

Synths are exploding in hardware, you know that, but they are also developing in all sorts of other directions and it’s going to be hard to keep tabs on where the synth is going in the coming years. Yes we’ve seen a resurgence in traditional analogue synths, with remakes of all sorts of classics and a modular craze that doesn’t look like ending any time soon. Yet there are also some more unlikely partnerships – DSI and Pioneer being the prime example – which look like resulting in quite unexpected devices, and some of the more traditional areas of analogue and digital look like coming together in different ways, too – just look at Roland’s many variations of ‘analogue’.
