You’ve heard it many times before – that’s today’s mantra for mountain bike geometry. Each year, bike design goes more aggressively in that direction. My 2016 enduro bike had a head tube angle that’s now steeper than many trail bikes. My 2019 enduro bike has a head tube angle that would’ve only been found on a downhill bike just a few years ago, and yet it’s a phenomenal climber as well. There’s no doubt that as geometry has changed like this, bikes have become better and better.
Does that mean that old bikes are no good? Of course not! A good bike doesn’t stop being ‘good’ just because it gets old and bike building moves on. Almost any bike you buy today from a reputable brand is going to be a ‘good bike’. Actually, it’ll almost certainly
