REACHING THE LIMIT
The questions of how much is too much wouldn’t go away in July and August.
It was being asked in specific regard to Ryan Crotty after he suffered yet another nasty concussion in the 12th minute of the first Bledisloe Cup clash in Sydney.
It didn’t make for easy viewing seeing Crotty accidentally clash heads with team-mate Jack Goodhue.
It was one of those collisions where everyone could see it coming – apart from Crotty, who lifted his head at the precise moment Goodhue was spun out of a tackle and thrown into the path of his midfield partner.
Crotty was knocked out and while he managed to stand to leave the field, it was obvious he was not in a good way.
It felt like it was an all too familiar scene – Crotty leaving a big game prematurely due to a major head collision. The medics keep track of the actual number of head knocks individuals suffer – the media and public tend to go by memory and perception, but there probably wouldn’t be too much dispute between all parties that Crotty has suffered
