RETURN OF THE FORGOTTEN MAN

By the end of the Rugby Championship, Sevu Reece was the man everyone wanted to talk about.

The Fijian-born Reece had shown once again at Eden Park that he is in the midst of one of those rare hot streaks where almost everything he does, comes off.

The 22-year-old scored an incredible try in the 36-0 demolition of the Wallabies when he somehow managed to brilliantly fly-hack a cross-kick over the head of Reece Hodge and then beat him to the touchdown.

Probably nine out of 10 test wings wouldn’t have had the pace to have reached the cross-kick before it went out and if they had, wouldn’t have been able to have kept the fly-hack in play.

Reece has had one of those years, though, where he can do no wrong and he lit up Super Rugby with his spontaneous acts of genius and albeit in limited test action to date, he’s shown his particular brand of rugby works at the higher level, too.

The new kid on the block has captured the public imagination and in many minds it will be Reece that the All Blacks will turn to as they try to ignite their attack game at the World Cup.

But there is another excitement machine in the All Blacks mix who is just as capable, if not more
