Reach for the Skye the return

As I mentioned last month, Portree is a picturesque town on the Isle of Skye and, as our arrival there was roughly the mid-point of our trip, we had decided to splash out on a tasty seafood dinner to make the most of this wonderful place.

While wild camping often isolates us from other campers, the free car park designated for caravans and Campervans in the centre of the town offered the ideal opportunity to immerse ourselves in a small community of like-minded people.

On arrival, I noticed a shiny green T4 with its owners sat outside it enjoying a dinner they’d prepared on their slide-out cooker. Ella was very impressed by their Van, which was quite obviously in much better condition than mine, and had a stylish interior that put my self-built pallet wood interior to shame. I peered inquisitively through my curtain to inspect their Van, and then got out to say hello.

After bonding over common T4 quirks we’d both experienced, I retreated to the Van in an attempt to make it look presentable in the hope of earning a compliment from them so Ella might think twice in the future about being so obviously impressed by any Van other than mine.

Unfortunately, I was proved wrong and forced to swallow my pride.
