For just over a decade I’ve been living between Shanghai, Hong Kong and Tokyo. These are some of the biggest cities in the world, places so big, so populated that you never know anyone, and no one knows you. Shanghai goes on forever, Tokyo pushes to the slopes of Fuji, and Hong Kong stretches up to the clouds. Every day you’re surrounded by millions of people, but you can’t speak the language or read a word so you’re completely independent, anonymous and, most of the time, you are alone.
When I go to work in the morning, I try to find my flow on the subway, but it’s not easy when two million people are taking the same ride every day.
