POKEMON SWORD AND SHIELD

For years, gamers have been dreaming of a truly open-world Pokemon game, and they’ve finally got their wish with Sword and Shield. The latest generation takes players to the United Kingdom-inspired Galar region, featuring stunning locations ranging from snowy mountains and underground caverns to idyllic countrysides and vast plains (we’re keeping our fingers crossed that Birmingham makes an appearance). With three adorable starters to choose from, a new Galarian variation of Ponyta in the colours of the Trans Pride flag, and the exciting prospect of the ridiculously named Gigantamaxing – when your favourite Pokemon turn into supersized and superpowered versions of themselves – it’s shaping up to be the best game in the series yet.
