When Lynette McDermott started working on her family history several years ago, she discovered that truth is indeed often stranger than fiction. Her ancestors’ lives were full of captivating stories that were perfect for fiction, so she began writing the ‘Garth Trilogy’, a series of historical novels featuring her own ancestors. We caught up with Lynette to find out more.

Tell us a bit about your book series.

Although it is historical fiction, the ‘Garth Trilogy’ is based upon true stories. It begins with four convicts, three transported on the First Fleet and one on the Second, from England to Port Jackson, then to Norfolk Island, and later to Tasmania and beyond.
