You see them everywhere as Toyota’s 70 Series has been on sale in Australia for 34 years now. Over that time the 70 Series has undergone a series of engine, chassis and cabin updates, with the last major revamp coming in late 2016, effectively for the 2017 model and affecting 76 Series wagons, 78 Series Troop Carriers and 79 Series single and double-cab utes.

Those 2017 updates underpin what you see here in this latest model and were largely a result of compulsory government-mandated emissions and safety compliance requirements. Between them they brought a diesel particulate filter, piezo fuel injectors (replacing electro-magnetic injectors), both for cleaner exhaust emissions, and ESC for improved accident avoidance.
