I got Mine
HOLDEN produced plenty of weird and wonderful idiosyncrasies for us to enjoy across four Commodore platforms and 15 models. Conversely, it also generated a few pet peeves that drive us insane with rage. The blokes and blokettes at Street Machine got together to discuss the pros and cons of the General’s departed solider.
CARLY DALE
FREELANCING QUEEN OF CALAIS
SEEING as I’ve owned and loved my VL Calais since forever, I’m going to go with the most obvious for me. I adore the flip-front lights on my model, but I do prefer them left down for that sleek look. The single-spoker steering wheel in my Calais is also a favourite of mine, but it was a lonely passion for a while; nobody else seemed to like it. As for the peeves, I’ve never really understood the early VL’s open-centred headrests. I don’t know why, but they bother me.
I GOT MINE
BETWEEN me and my hubby Shane, we’ve owned a VH SL/E, a VK, a VL Calais and a VS wags. We recently bought a VZ wagon, the last of the larger-bodied longroofs. It’s such a bloody handy car and seems to have around 100 million litres of cargo space. Commodores are easy to get parts for and are somewhat intuitive to work on; they just keep going. I hope the aftermarket keeps churning out products for those of us
