When Ingrid Hillhouse was in high school, she avoided athletics and anything sport related – apart from joining the marching band. A decade or so later, she did a complete U-turn, and, at age 30, Hillhouse had completed her first Ironman after two years of solid training.

She began marching to the beat of a new lifestyle, and this involved taking part in endurance running and triathlon races all over the world. When a friend suggested doing the Great Wall Marathon in China during May 2018, she jumped at the unique challenge it offered her.
