PREPARING FOR THE GOAT

The Goat, held on the Western Slopes of Mt Ruapehu in Tongariro National Park, is one of the most challenging races on the off road calendar.

Celebrating its 15th year in 2018 the event, held in early December sells out quickly.

The run, which is measured at a nominal 20 kilometres means this is relatively achievable for a relatively large proportion of the trail running community.

The race starts at Whakapapa ski field and finishes over on Turoa ski field.
