Five Ridges on Mount Barney

QUICK FACTS

It may not be the tallest peak in the region, or even the most recognisable, but Mount Barney is undoubtedly the jewel of the Scenic Rim. The rich history of this craggy massif spans millennia, capturing the attention of indigenous people, colonists, and modern adventurers alike. It dominates the surrounding landscape and the imagination of those who travel through it.

Mount Barney is big terrain, vast and complicated. It is comprised of several precipitous summits and a complex web of ridgelines, and it is these exposed ridges that lend the peak its appeal. Each route offers a unique experience, but all offer sprawling, peerless vistas.

This is not a peak to be taken lightly. Despite the trade route being cheekily labelled Peasant’s Ridge, there is no easy way up Mount Barney. The wilderness here is rugged, remote and pitiless, and any ascent will require more than a kilometre of elevation gain and descent.
