5 Solutions for Making Glued-Up Legs

It’s the decorative details that can take a project from good to great. In the case of the pharmacy cabinet (page 26) and the bookstand (page 46) in this issue, one of those key details is the thick, curved, and flared legs.

The only challenge with making elaborate legs like this is that it can sometimes be difficult or expensive to acquire lumber in the thickness you need. The workaround, in many cases, is to glue up multiple pieces to form a thicker blank and then cut it to final shape and size.

When it comes to gluing up leg blanks, there are several ways to go about it. The right solution for you will vary based on the project at hand. The following are a few of my favorite approaches to forming glued-up blanks
