Dementia impacts your ability to make sense of the world around you, leading to confusion and anxiety. So living somewhere you can navigate safely and enjoyably is helpful. It can also help lessen symptoms.
‘Symptoms such as repetitive questioning can often be reduced with the right calming environment,’ says specialist dementia nurse Dave Bell from charity Dementia UK. ‘When you start to feel insecure, it increases agitation, affects confidence and has knock-on effects such as isolation, loneliness and low mood or depression.’
