Q What do I need to bring with me to my first bridal salon appointment?
A Come prepared to your first appointment with a solid budget in mind and some dress inspiration (either magazine tear outs or photos on your phone will work), so your bridal consultant has a general idea of what you’re looking for. And even if you think you already know what your ideal dress looks like, be open to trying on a variety of silhouettes and styles. “Brides should begin dress shopping with an open mind,” says Mara Urshel, owner of Kleinfeld Bridal in New York City. “Trust your bridal consultant to find the perfect gown for your shape, taste and price point.”
Q Do bridesmaid accessories have to all be the same?
A While more than half of bridal parties still wear matching or similar dresses, your bridesmaids don’t have to wear identical accessories. “I actually prefer when bridesmaids don’t match,” says Julie Sabatino, a bridal fashion stylist and owner of The Stylish Bride in New York City. “I think picking accessories based on the personality of each bridesmaid is a great way to do it.” Worried a mismatched bridal party will look messy? Consider selecting pieces from the same collection that will complement each other.
