Journey through the clouds

As we snake our way through the Jasper National Park past Mt Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, on board the award-winning Rocky Mountaineer, hostess Helena Glacken is explaining the deep respect the First Nations People of the region have for the mountains. Known to them as the Mountain of the Spiral Road, perhaps for the horizontal layers of rock that make up the enormous peak, Mt Robson is often obscured by cloud. Today, however, glistening with snow after recent falls, the view to the mountain is clear, and breathtakingly beautiful.
