Journey to the soul
“Who we are as women has never been more important.”
My annus horribilis was 2018. When the wheels fell off my life, I very nearly lay down and let it crush me. There was an underlying sense that I’d wasted so much time being the person the world expected that I’d become divorced from who I truly was, or who I wanted to be. In 2019, I worked harder, dreamed bigger, but more work meant less time – for friends, for my little family. Some days the tasks I set are so daunting, so numerous, I’m not always sure what my goals are. Even more terrifying, I’m not really sure who I am anymore...
In the 21st ccntury, the world is supposed to be our oyster and the globe our village. Yet the question of who we are as women in society has never been more important, or open to more debate. So I am travelling to the other side of the world, to Morocco, the land of mysticism, mint tea, and a particularly zany episode of Absolutely Fabulous.
Why Morocco? Because there are few other societies on earth where the roles of women are so diverse, so estranged, so complicated, and yet on the brink
