CONTESTING
March is a busy month for contesters. Here are the events we’ll be looking at this month:
• ARRL DX Phone Contest
• Russian DX Contest
• CQ World Wide WPX Phone Contest
• South American 10-Meter and Stew Perry Challenge 160-Meter Contests
• Dayton Contest Activities
• IARU Region 1 Young Contesters Program
• New State QSO Challenge
This month, three more contests will be held on the path to WRTC2022 in Italy — ARRL DX Phone, Russian DX, and CQ World Wide WPX Phone. The quest will be completed next November with the close of the annual CQ World Wide DX CW contest. The latest competition results, standings, and other information related to WRTC2022 can be viewed at <www.wrtc2022.it>.
Activity in the venerable ARRL DX Phone contest has been slowly increasing despite the lack of sunspots and resulting lack of worldwide propagation on 10 and 15 meters. As noted last month, the number of logs submitted in 2019 was only 100 fewer than the alltime high. The phone weekend kicks off at 0000 UTC on March 7th and continues until 2400 UTC on Sunday, March 8th. Keep an eye out for the young (YCP) operators at LX2ØI, discussed below; and check NG3K’s list of planned DX contest operations for the ARRL DX and CQ World Wide WPX contests here: <https://tinyurl.com/uwgdwzy>.
