POST-PUNK
Just as punk was a reaction to the increasingly self-indulgent music of the 1970s, post-punk responded to the spartan power chords of its namesake by rejecting the conventions of traditional rock guitar and embraced a new sonic zeitgeist, experimenting with musical genres, rhythm patterns and avant-garde noise. It’s hard to overestimate post-punk’s lasting influence, and how it helped to provoke a seismic change in how we think of guitar music.
