riginally built to homologate the 996 for GT3 racing, the 'GT3' badge would come to signify ever more powerful and focused 911s, and with the arrival of this car the genre had reached its zenith. In Gen2 form the 997 GT3 RS was mighty impressive, but slotting in a 4.0-litre version of the Mezger engine – the largest ever fitted to a 911 – was a special way to sign off the generation.
