BACK in the late ’90s, investigated the idea of staging a festival aboard a P&O ferry sailing around the UK. Logistical concerns forced them to abandon the seagoing element and settle for a landlubbing affair at Camber Sands Pontins, with 1999’s Bowlie Weekender – essentially Hi-De-Hi with jangly guitars – setting the template for holiday-camp festivals for years to come.
