THE 2017 Intipalka Tannat I enjoyed the other night was a cracker and, at barely more than a tenner, great value. Richly flavoured and concentrated, full of dark berry fruit with a whisper of spice and plenty of sturdy tannins, it was everything I’d expect from Tannat. You know, Tannat, that thick-skinned red grape that Professor Roger Corder singles out as producing wine that is positively good for one in his reassuringly encouraging and up-beat book, the central theme of which is that wine drinkers are generally healthier and live longer, happier lives than non-wine drinkers? Well, down the hatch, mud in your eye and cheers to that I say.
