When came out in cinemas – in various cuts and lengths depending on the territory. Yet marks a tonal evolution for the pathfinding director, as her dispassionate dissection of sex and its inelegant place in contemporary life is a more clinical and philosophical (albeit no less provocative) affair. Caroline Ducey plays Marie, a white-smocked school teacher who is stepping out with an asexual, slightly dumb fashion model (Sagamore Stévenin). He rebuffs her in the bedroom, despite her advances, and so she slinks out to the shadowy back alleys and boudoirs of Paris on a journey of sexual self-discovery.
