All about ringed woodcock

GAMEBIRDS

Q I shot a ringed woodcock over Christmas and it looks like a foreign ring. Where and how do I report it?

A How interesting. I am assuming the ring has a foreign mark on it or perhaps a country or city abbreviation that has helped you identify it. If so, go to euring.org and report your find. Include as much information as possible, such as the ring number and identification mark, a grid reference or the location of where it was shot, the condition of the bird, the time and date when it was shot, any distinguishing marks or anything out of the ordinary and your contact details. In the meantime, go on to the internet to see what you can find out yourself. The more we learn about these birds, the more we fall in love with them. LB
