Delving through volumes of books that have been given and bought over the years seems an endless operation. Volumes on contract law, statistics and A-level biology were easy to throw out and should have been scrapped years ago. The problem is, with such as Our Favourite Songbirds, or Wild Visitors to a Cotswold Garden, I am unlikely to read or reference them, but am unable to part with these dust gathering volumes.
Among the many books given to me some 60 years ago by my grandfather are several hardback volumes of magazine. In all that time
