FREE! FARSCAPE TURNS 20

IT’S BEEN 20 YEARS SINCE WRITER ROCKNE S O’Bannon and the Jim Henson Company commingled to create the sci-fi TV series Farscape, and there’s no doubt the genre is still feeling its influence today. Live-action and space-based, Farscape’s creatives took a bit of everything – from comedy to romance, prosthetics and cutting-edge puppetry – mixed it into a narrative blender, and out came this weird series that captivated audiences around the globe.

While Farscape only lasted four seasons and a miniseries, you can still see its DNA in shows like Joss Whedon’s Firefly and SY FY’s Killjoys; and in performances by A-list actors like Chris Pratt in Guardians Of The Galaxy or Chris Pine in Star Trek that follow in the footsteps of Ben Browder’s brash and mouthy John Crichton.

Two decades later, executive producer Brian Henson tells that it’s very gratifying to see that may be gone, but it’s hardly forgotten. He clocked the homages as he saw them
