Based on 1975’s first episode of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s much-loved live-action show, the doublelength drama shines a new light on how Moonbase Alpha came to be blasted away from Earth into the far-off depths of space.
“It’s not quite the case that I just wrote and wrote and suddenly it was, ‘Blimey, I’ve got two hours!’ but it was very nearly the case,” laughs Briggs, who also supplies the script. “You just find yourself with lots of interesting character interactions, and that just made the story longer.”
