Herbie Rides Again
A Volkswagen Beetle called Herbie captured the imagination of the world five decades ago in a Walt Disney box-office hit titled The Love Bug. Herbie was an adventurous, unlikely hero, the underdog racing car with a mind of his own who never gave up on the quest to cross the finish line first despite interminable obstacles placed in his path by bigger, faster racing cars and their villainous drivers.
More recently, another character of the same name has started to attract public attention after embarking on a real-life adventure off the coast of KwaZulu-Natal.
