Drawn to the River
He is a celebrity of sorts. Someone you may know… standing knee-deep in rushing water, braced against the powerful current, and determined to catch a fish. The accomplished angler loops his fly line gracefully, drops a tiny fly into a shadowy river seam and coaxes a subtle strike. He lifts his rod and the Vaal River yellowfish races cross-current, shouldering a path between the rocky pools.
Moments later, he kneels in the river and examines the fish closely, turning it back and forth as sunlight dances across its scales.
