On the Glamtrail to Heaven

As a strict rule I never mix hiking with wine tastings and lengthy lunches, but occasionally have to make an exception. An invitation to explore the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley on a Glamtrail is one of them.

“Getting out and discovering the natural beauty and all the flora and fauna of this area is integral, but the focus is on linking high-end wining and dining experiences, often reached along paths otherwise not open to the public,” explains Tim Lundy, co-founder of Glamtrails with his wife Gillian Faichnie.

“Tim’s a qualified mountain guide, and I’m not really a hiker,” says Gillian. “But I love walking. It’s the best way of socialising with friends, and the short, guided walks we devised take in wine tastings and other rewards, and are right up my street.”
